7-Seater & Large Sofas made in Nepal

A seven-seater is bought for a specific reason, and it is almost never simply wanting a bigger sofa.

The households that order this size are joint families where three generations sit together in one room every evening, farmhouse and second-home owners who host large groups, and hotels and clubhouses furnishing a lounge that needs to look generous rather than merely adequate. In all three cases the sofa is doing something a normal three-seater cannot: it is holding a whole gathering in one continuous line, so nobody is seated at the edge of the group.

Frame engineering changes at this size. A 260 to 280 centimetre seat is a structural problem, not just a longer version of the same thing. Ours is built on a reinforced sal frame with two intermediate legs rather than one, a full-length plywood seat deck, and 40-density foam right through the seat instead of the 32-over-40 layering we use on family sofas. Without that, the centre of a seven-seater dips within two years and there is no honest way to fix it afterwards.

Delivery is the real constraint. Very few Kathmandu staircases will take a single 270-centimetre frame around a turn, and we would rather tell you that now than on the morning of delivery. Our seven-seaters are built by default as two bolted sections that join under the seat cushions; assembled, the join is invisible and the sofa behaves as one piece. The matched ottoman. Most seven-seater customers add a matching ottoman, and there is a practical reason beyond looks: it converts the end of the sofa into a chaise when the room is quiet, and becomes two extra perches when the room is full. It is built from the same fabric roll and typically adds NPR 8,500 to 12,000.

What it costs. Seven-seaters start at NPR 85,000 and most orders land between one lakh and one lakh forty-five, depending on fabric and whether you add the ottoman.
