How big does my room need to be?

At least 14 feet on the short side, and 90 cm of clear walking space behind each arm. Below that, we will recommend an L-shape instead and we will say why.

Will it come apart to get up the stairs?

Yes — three bolted sections. Two people and about twenty minutes to reassemble in the room.

Can I have different lengths on each arm?

Yes. Asymmetric U-shapes are common in real rooms and cost no more.

Does the centre table come with it?

No, it is an option. We build a matching low table in sal with a laminate or glass top.

Is PU leather sensible for a family this size?

Yes — it wipes, and with a U-shape you will be wiping. Fabric looks warmer but shows more.

A U-shape is not a bigger L. It is a different social object: everybody faces everybody, nobody sits behind anybody, and the television stops being the centre of the room. Families who host — Saturday lunches, Tihar evenings, a house where cousins arrive in fours — are the people who love it.

It needs room, and we will be straight about that. As a rule of thumb you want at least 14 feet on the short side, plus 90 cm of walking space behind each arm. If your room is smaller, the U will technically fit and the room will feel wrong.

We build it in three bolted sections so it can be carried up a staircase and assembled in the room. The seat is 36-density over a 40-density support, slightly firmer than a family three-seater, because a U-shape gets sat on in every position including sideways with legs up.

Ask us for an offcut of the actual foam going into your sofa and we will hand it to you. Come to the workshop and push the bare frame with your own hands before it is covered — most people who do that stop worrying.

Delivery and warranty, in plain language

Free delivery inside Ring Road, quoted honestly at cost anywhere else in Nepal. Fifty per cent advance when you sign the written specification, balance on delivery — and the specification lists the model, exact size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date, so there is nothing left to remember or argue about.

Five years on the frame and joinery. Five years on foam collapse. One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. If something goes wrong, send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp — that is the whole claim process. Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months, so a matching extra piece actually matches.
