Customers who spend above one and a half lakh on a sofa in Nepal are almost always doing one of three things: furnishing a house they intend to grow old in, fitting out a boutique hotel or restaurant where the seating is part of the brand, or replacing something inherited that finally gave out. All three deserve the same process, and it is not a showroom process.

It works like this. You send a photograph, a sketch or a room measurement on WhatsApp. We come and measure, or you come to the workshop. We produce a drawing, a written specification listing frame timber, foam densities, joinery, fabric grade and finish, and a firm figure with a named delivery window. Fifty percent advance at drawing sign-off, balance on delivery. Nothing changes after that unless you change it.

You will also know who is building it. At this level we assign the piece to a named senior karigar at the start, not at the end, and you are welcome to visit the workshop while it is on the bench. Several customers come twice — once at frame stage, once before the cover goes on. Frame stage is the honest visit, because that is when the sofa is still telling the truth about itself.

Every piece at this level is registered on the Karigar Ledger with the maker's name, the build date and the exact fabric and foam batch, so that in year nine, when a cushion needs a refill, we know precisely what went into it.
