Care & warranty

The warranty, in plain language

We would rather write this in sentences you can check than in clauses you cannot. Everything below is also printed on your invoice, and your ledger serial number is the only thing you need to make a claim.

  • Five years on the frame and joinery. If a frame cracks, twists or a joint opens under normal household use, we repair or rebuild it. This is the promise we are most confident making, because we season the timber ourselves.
  • Five years on foam collapse. If a seat cushion develops a visible permanent dip under normal household use, we replace the foam. Gradual softening in the first three months is settling and is normal; a dip you can see across the room is not.
  • One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. Seams, zips, sofa-bed hinges and manual recline hardware.
  • Two years on motors and chassis for motorised recliners, with spare motors held in Kathmandu so a repair does not depend on an import.
  • Two years on frames for commercial use. A public seat takes in a month what a home sofa takes in two years, and we would rather set an honest figure than a generous one we cannot keep.

What is not covered, said plainly

  • Fabric fading from direct sunlight. Every fabric fades; we will advise you on which colours fade slowest, but we cannot warranty the sun.
  • Cuts, burns, pet claws, ink and dye transfer from clothing.
  • Damage from moving the sofa between properties, or from cleaning with bleach, spirit or a hard brush.
  • Normal softening and settling of foam in the first three months.
  • Any repair or re-covering carried out by somebody else.

How to make a claim

Send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp. That is the whole process. We look up your record — build date, karigar, fabric batch, foam specification — and reply with what we will do and when. Inside the Kathmandu Valley we come to you. Outside the valley we arrange collection or send parts, depending on what has gone wrong.

Delivery, payment and lead time

  • Free delivery inside Ring Road. Outside Ring Road and outside the valley, quoted honestly at cost before you commit.
  • 50% advance at written specification sign-off, balance on delivery. The written specification lists model, size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date.
  • Lead times run 18–25 days for standard fabrics, 25–32 days for custom cloth, and four to six weeks for hand-tufted and carved work. If we are going to be late you will hear it from us before the date, not on it.
  • Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months after delivery, so an extra cushion or a matching single-seater actually matches.

Care in ninety seconds

  • Vacuum the seat and crevices weekly. Grit inside a weave behaves like sandpaper.
  • Rotate and swap loose cushions monthly so no one face takes all the wear or all the sunlight.
  • Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, from the outside of the mark inwards. Never rub and never pour water on it.
  • During the monsoon, pull the sofa 15 cm off the wall and open the windows for two hours once a week. The back panel is where damp concentrates.
  • Condition leather in November and again in March, with the conditioner we supply.
  • Twice a year, check and tighten the leg bolts. They are the one fastener that genuinely works loose.

Twenty-five questions we are actually asked

Still unsure about something?

Send the question to 9849239091 on WhatsApp. If the answer is “no” or “that will not work”, you will get that answer too.
