In Jhalak's words
A recliner is bought for one person. Usually it is a father who works ten hours and wants twenty minutes with his legs up before dinner, and the family buys it for him. That is why we photograph it half-open — the point of the chair is the movement, not the silhouette.
The mechanism is steel, bolted through to the sal frame rather than screwed into it, and it locks at three positions instead of flopping to full recline. The seat is 40-density with a moulded lumbar section, because a recliner with soft foam becomes uncomfortable in exactly the position you bought it for.
PU leather is what most Nepali households choose here and it is genuinely the sensible pick: it wipes clean, it does not hold the smell of the kitchen, and it survives a dozen years of daily use. Fabric looks warmer and we will build it if you prefer, but we will also tell you it will show the wear first at the headrest.
“Sit in it, pull the lever, and stay there for five minutes. If you get up smiling, it is the right chair.”— Jhalak Bahadur Khatri, proprietor
The build
Foam
40-density seat with a moulded lumbar section
Frame
Seasoned sal wood with a steel recline chassis
Joinery
Bolted steel chassis on a timber frame
Stitch
Panelled top stitch, bar-tacked at the arm rolls
Ask us for an offcut of the actual foam going into your sofa and we will hand it to you. Come to the workshop and push the bare frame with your own hands before it is covered — most people who do that stop worrying.
Delivery and warranty, in plain language
Free delivery inside Ring Road, quoted honestly at cost anywhere else in Nepal. Fifty per cent advance when you sign the written specification, balance on delivery — and the specification lists the model, exact size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date, so there is nothing left to remember or argue about.
Five years on the frame and joinery. Five years on foam collapse. One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. If something goes wrong, send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp — that is the whole claim process. Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months, so a matching extra piece actually matches.

Questions people ask about the RP Aaram Solo
About 35 cm of clearance behind the backrest for a full recline. If your wall is tight, ask for the wall-hugger chassis, which needs only 12 cm.
Yes — that is exactly why we use a standard steel chassis rather than an exotic imported one. Parts are available here and we hold spares in the workshop.
Manual if the user has normal arm strength; it is cheaper, has less to fail, and needs no socket. Motorised (RP Aaram Motor) if the user is elderly, recovering, or simply wants a button.
Cheap PU peels in two or three years. We use a heavier grade and we will still tell you honestly: genuine leather lasts longer. PU is the value choice, not the forever choice.
The chassis is rated to 120 kg. Above that, tell us and we build the reinforced version.
Not on the single. On RP Aaram Trio there is a centre console option with cup holders.
