In Jhalak's words
Low, light, and deliberately quiet. The Nord has a 72 cm back where most of our sofas are 85, which changes a room more than any other single number in this catalogue — sightlines stay open, the window stays visible, and a small flat stops feeling walled in.
Boucle is the fabric that made this shape popular and it is a genuinely good choice: the loop texture hides light marks and it survives sunlight better than a flat weave. It is not the right cloth for a house with a cat, and we will say so, because claws find loops.
Because the frame section is lighter, we are stricter about the wood. Only fully seasoned sal goes into a Nord — a light frame in unseasoned timber will move in the first monsoon and the clean line is the whole point of the piece.
“If your room is small and dark, this is the sofa I would put in it.”— Jhalak Bahadur Khatri, proprietor
The build
Foam
34-density seat, tight back with a slim profile
Frame
Seasoned sal, light-section frame
Joinery
Mortise-and-tenon; tapered legs doweled
Stitch
Minimal seams, no piping
Ask us for an offcut of the actual foam going into your sofa and we will hand it to you. Come to the workshop and push the bare frame with your own hands before it is covered — most people who do that stop worrying.
Delivery and warranty, in plain language
Free delivery inside Ring Road, quoted honestly at cost anywhere else in Nepal. Fifty per cent advance when you sign the written specification, balance on delivery — and the specification lists the model, exact size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date, so there is nothing left to remember or argue about.
Five years on the frame and joinery. Five years on foam collapse. One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. If something goes wrong, send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp — that is the whole claim process. Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months, so a matching extra piece actually matches.

Questions people ask about the RP City Nord
For upright sitting it is fine. For head support it is not — anyone over about 5'10" who leans back will find no headrest. We can build it at 78 cm if you want a compromise.
Not on clothes. It does catch on cat claws and on velcro. If you have either, choose the linen.
Yes, but the light leg is most of the character. We will build walnut if you ask, after telling you that once.
Spot-clean only, with a damp cloth and no soap rubbing. Ask for the removable-cover build if you want machine-washable covers.
Not our first recommendation — light fabrics and tenants are a hard combination. RP Basanta Long in polyester is the better landlord choice.
