In Jhalak's words
A five-seater on a single frame is the most under-rated sofa in Nepal. It gives you nearly the seat count of an L-shape without eating the middle of your room, it sits flat against one wall, and it is far easier to move up a staircase than a corner unit.
The engineering point is the centre. Any sofa over about 210 cm will eventually dip in the middle unless there is a bolted centre stretcher and a hidden centre leg. We fit both as standard, and we use 40-density foam right across the seat rather than the softer 32 we use on shorter sofas, because five people sitting down at once is a different load.
This is the piece landlords in Baneshwor, Kalanki and Imadol reorder from us. Tenants change, the sofa does not. If you are furnishing more than one flat, order them together — same fabric roll, same batch, and a straightforward bulk price we will put in writing.
“If you are furnishing flats, order three at once and I will give you one price and one delivery day — no haggling every time.”— Jhalak Bahadur Khatri, proprietor
The build
Foam
Higher-density 40 seat foam throughout; reinforced centre rail
Frame
Reinforced seasoned sal with a centre leg
Joinery
Mortise-and-tenon plus a bolted centre stretcher
Stitch
Double-needle; bar-tacked corners
Ask us for an offcut of the actual foam going into your sofa and we will hand it to you. Come to the workshop and push the bare frame with your own hands before it is covered — most people who do that stop worrying.
Delivery and warranty, in plain language
Free delivery inside Ring Road, quoted honestly at cost anywhere else in Nepal. Fifty per cent advance when you sign the written specification, balance on delivery — and the specification lists the model, exact size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date, so there is nothing left to remember or argue about.
Five years on the frame and joinery. Five years on foam collapse. One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. If something goes wrong, send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp — that is the whole claim process. Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months, so a matching extra piece actually matches.

Questions people ask about the RP Basanta Long
Not with the centre stretcher and the hidden centre leg, which we fit as standard on every unit over 210 cm. If it ever dips within five years of normal use, we come and fix it.
Heavy polyester or PU leather. Both wipe clean, both hide the marks that fabric shows. Cotton-linen looks better but needs a more careful household.
Yes. Send the quantity and the city on WhatsApp and we will send one written figure, including delivery, the same day.
Usually yes at 220 cm. At 240 cm, send us a photo of the turn in your staircase first. We would rather check than damage your wall.
Yes, and we hold your fabric for six months so it still matches.
At 220 cm, yes, for most adults. It is a common afternoon-nap sofa.
