In Jhalak's words
The two-seater is rarely the first sofa somebody buys and almost always the second. It goes at ninety degrees to the three-seater, it takes the corner that a chair would waste, and in a small drawing room it is often the only sensible answer.
We build it on the same seasoned sal frame and the same foam specification as the three-seater, because there is no reason a smaller sofa should be a weaker one. Standard length is 140 to 160 cm; 140 is the one that fits most Kathmandu flats without crowding the walking path.
If you already own an RP three-seater, tell us the invoice number or send a photo of the fabric. If it is within six months we can usually pull cloth from the same roll. Beyond that, dye lots move slightly, and we will tell you honestly whether the match will be perfect or merely close — rather than letting you find out on delivery day.
“If you bought the three-seater from us, bring the bill — I will try to find you the same roll.”— Jhalak Bahadur Khatri, proprietor
The build
Foam
32-density seat foam over 40-density support
Frame
Seasoned sal wood
Joinery
Mortise-and-tenon, screwed and glued
Stitch
Double-needle top stitch
Ask us for an offcut of the actual foam going into your sofa and we will hand it to you. Come to the workshop and push the bare frame with your own hands before it is covered — most people who do that stop worrying.
Delivery and warranty, in plain language
Free delivery inside Ring Road, quoted honestly at cost anywhere else in Nepal. Fifty per cent advance when you sign the written specification, balance on delivery — and the specification lists the model, exact size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date, so there is nothing left to remember or argue about.
Five years on the frame and joinery. Five years on foam collapse. One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. If something goes wrong, send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp — that is the whole claim process. Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months, so a matching extra piece actually matches.

Questions people ask about the RP Basanta 2-seater
Yes, comfortably. At 160 cm two adults plus a child.
Often, but not always — dye lots shift. Send a photo and we will tell you before you order, not after.
Yes, but for daily commercial use ask for the RP Karya build with firmer foam and a wipeable fabric.
Yes. An armless two-seater buys you about 20 cm of room. It is a good trick in tight flats.
The legs unscrew. The frame does not. At 140 cm this is almost never a problem.
NPR 22,000 — 140 cm, standard cotton-linen, sal frame, same foam as the expensive one. We do not build a cheaper frame.
