In Jhalak's words
Most people who walk into this workshop for the first time are buying this sofa. It is the anchor — the piece the television faces, the piece guests are shown to, the piece a child eventually falls asleep on. So we build it as though it will be looked at every day for ten years, because it will be.
Seasoned sal frame, mortise-and-tenon corners, 32-density seat foam over a 40-density support layer, double-needle stitching on every seam. Standard length is 180 to 200 cm and we will build anywhere in that range for the same price, because a sofa that is 15 cm too long for your wall is not a bargain.
If this is your first big furniture purchase, here is the honest advice we give in the workshop: spend your money on the frame and the foam, not on the fabric. Fabric can be recovered in five years for a fraction of the sofa price. A weak frame cannot be fixed at all.
“Buy the frame and the foam properly the first time — the cloth you can always change later.”— Jhalak Bahadur Khatri, proprietor
The build
Foam
32-density seat foam over 40-density support
Frame
Seasoned sal wood
Joinery
Mortise-and-tenon, screwed and glued
Stitch
Double-needle top stitch; piping optional
Ask us for an offcut of the actual foam going into your sofa and we will hand it to you. Come to the workshop and push the bare frame with your own hands before it is covered — most people who do that stop worrying.
Delivery and warranty, in plain language
Free delivery inside Ring Road, quoted honestly at cost anywhere else in Nepal. Fifty per cent advance when you sign the written specification, balance on delivery — and the specification lists the model, exact size, fabric name and batch, foam densities, leg finish and date, so there is nothing left to remember or argue about.
Five years on the frame and joinery. Five years on foam collapse. One year on stitching, zips and mechanisms. If something goes wrong, send a photograph and your ledger serial number to 9849239091 on WhatsApp — that is the whole claim process. Your fabric is reserved from the same roll for six months, so a matching extra piece actually matches.

Questions people ask about the RP Basanta 3-seater
Yes. That is a 180 cm three-seater in a standard cotton-linen with a sal frame, delivered free inside Ring Road. Longer sizes, premium fabric or leather move you up towards 55,000, and we will write the exact number down before you pay.
Three adults comfortably at 180 cm. At 200 cm three adults with room to breathe, or three adults and a child.
Usually the frame wood and the foam density. A 20,000 three-seater is often a lighter softwood with 24-density foam. It will feel fine for a year. Ask to see both frames before they are covered — any honest workshop will show you.
Yes. Standard, firm, or soft. Tell us how you actually sit — upright with tea, or collapsed after a shift — and we will pick the foam for it.
Yes, and we keep your fabric reserved for six months so a two-seater bought later still matches.
Five years on the frame and joinery, five years on foam collapse under normal home use, one year on stitching and mechanisms. Written on the invoice, not just said.
